As Utah's oldest national park, Zion National Park is also Utah's most famous. Known for the canyons, hiking opportunities and big wall climbs, Zion National Park is host to over three million visitors per year. Visitors love to explore the deep sandstone canyons as well as the stunning mesas and rock towers that abound through the park.
Zion Canyon is a main draw of Zion National Park. At 15 miles long and up to a half mile deep it shows the incredible geological history of the park. For the animal lover there are a staggering 289 species of birds as well as 75 mammals including plenty of bats. There trees are just as diverse giving nature lovers a true treat. The views are spectacular especially around the Kolob Terrace and Canyons which is more primitive than much of the park.
There are several trails in which to follow at Zion National Park which can take up to eight hours round trip to access in some cases but are well worth the trek. Hiking to the Temple of Sinawava or the Orderville Canyon is a popular activity or you could choose to drive through where you can still experience many of the incredible landscapes of Zion. Zion National Park is always well known for the rock climbing that has both intermediate and advanced walls such as Moonlight Buttress and Prodigal Son.
From the spring to the summer, the opportunities are endless as to what you can take part in at Zion National Park. There are guided horseback riding expeditions, nature walks, canyoneering, and camping just to name a few.
