Enjoying What Lake Powell Has to Offer

In the Southern Utah area you will find one of greatest recreational areas in all of the United States - Lake Powell. Located in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area nearby to the border of Arizona, this massive man-made lake which is 186 miles long, offers some of the best hiking, camping, houseboating, swimming and fishing areas you will ever find.

At Lake Powell exploration abounds. There are 96 canyons to explore by foot or mostly by boat that will offer you a look at the exceptional red rock scenery that encompasses this lake. During your boating expedition you must stop at Rainbow Bridge which is the largest natural bridge in the world standing 290 feet tall and 270 feet across or you could continue on to one of the most remote areas in the United States known as the Orange Cliffs. Boats are for rental here if you are vacationing in this beautiful area or you could choose to take a tour boat that will take you either through a half day or full day of incredible sightseeing.

When you get off the boat you can still enjoy the great blue water by doing some waterskiing and wake boarding, or you could get out of the water and try to catch some smallmouth bass, walleye or catfish that are plentiful in the bays. There are some great hiking trails as well, both scenic and strenuous or you could even choose to sleep under the stars with some camping on the beach in the canyons. Nearby, Page, Arizona offers some impeccable golf courses as well as dining, shopping and family activities. Whether you are there to stand upon Glen Canyon Dam, explore the Indian Ruins in Forgotten Canyon or simply spend the day sunning on the beach, Lake Powell is an experience you will never forget.
