When looking for amazing views, incredible rock formations and adventure filled days then look no further than Bryce Canyon National Park. Less than a five hour drive from Salt Lake City or Las Vegas Nevada, Bryce Canyon National Park is in the Southwestern portion of Utah about an hour outside Cedar City.
The only way to describe Bryce Canyon National Park is awe-inspiring. A geological goldmine of sorts, Bryce is known for their distinctive bright red sandstone hoodoos which were formed through ice, water and wind erosions. In fact, one of their top attractions is not actually a canyon at all; it is the natural amphitheater that was caused too by erosion. Surrounded by lush green forests, it gives an open look to what Mother Nature can really do.
This dramatic National Park is less frequently visited than nearby Zion National Park which makes it perfect for solitary hikes or quiet family vacations. The dramatic scenery is one that just can’t be missed though, especially on the hike or drive to the top of the 8,000 ft rim of Bryce. You will see tons of carved spires as well as brilliantly colored cliffs. You can also take this incredible tour via horseback ride making it all the more adventurous. There are 15 or so popular viewpoints that let you experience all of the amazing rows of pine trees and the canyon itself until you reach the rim. Certain ones to take note of are Fairyland Point, China Wall, Sunrise Point, Inspiration Point and Rainbow Point which offer scenery all as diverse as the National Park itself. But to really discover the true beauty of Bryce you must head down to the bottom of the canyon where you will find the Bryce Amphitheater in all of its glory.
