Blue Lake Utah

For something a little more off the beaten path, you have Blue Lake located nearby to the Utah and Nevada border about 20 miles South of Wendover, Utah. Well known for its unique scuba diving, Blue Lake is a large spring fed, geothermal body of water that is very warm even year round with temperatures from the low 60's at surface level to the mid-80's at the bottom.

Scuba divers love the absence of tourists since it is a bit rustic, with no services at all for the public, including no bathroom. Great for quiet spots if you have an RV, it still brings in some families that not only enjoy scuba diving but can appreciate the total serenity. In fact, if you plan to visit during the week, you may be the only ones there. Surrounded by a 216 acre marsh, the lake is open to divers year round as well as for fishing which can be great with the amount of bass and bluegill available.

There is a wooden walkway that is built over the marshlands to allow people access to the lake itself but be forewarned that it is a bit out of the way. However, that is what most of the divers love about it. Also, the smaller depths of almost 60 feet allow new divers to really hone their skills when they first begin. Divers of the past have even left hidden treasures to discover on the bottom such as road signs and other fun things to search for like metal sculptures that are scattered on the bottom. Completely worth the drive, Blue Lake is great in the early fall months if you want to see nature at its best.
